Golden, Colo. – June 9, 2011 – Sister companies, Pearl Auto Body and Gunslinger Custom Paint are proud sponsors of the West Woods Men’s Club Golf Tournament and Luau benefiting the Arvada Community Food Bank and The Feeding the Future Backpack Program. The event will take place on June 20 at the West Woods Golf Course in Arvada, Colo. and is open to the public.
The Feeding the Future Backpack Program provides food to children at eight schools every weekend during the school year. The program is meant to provide children who are on the School Free and Reduced Lunch program some extra meals to see them through the week-end when they otherwise would go hungry. The program provides two breakfast and two lunch items, two snacks, fruit and vegetables. The Arvada Community Food Bank has served more than 1,100 children this year through their Feeding the Future Backpack Program.
“I’m glad we could support such a worthy cause,” said Dave Call, president of Pearl Auto Body. “By providing effective hunger relief programs like the Feeding the Future Backpack Program, the Arvada Community Food Bank community does a great service to our community.”
Participants in the June 20 event can forget about the traditional four-person scramble and 18-hole format, as this is not your standard golf tournament. Held on the longest day of the year, golfers will play as many holes as they can from sun up until sun down. Each participant is responsible for gathering pledges and raising $1000 in order to participant. All proceeds benefit the Arvada Community Food Bank.
To wrap up the fun day of golf, golfers and supporters will gather for a luau, hosted by the Arvada Chamber of Commerce in the restaurant at the West Woods Golf Course. Appetizers will be provided courtesy of the Pearl Auto Body and Gunslinger Custom Paint sponsorship. Tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased in advanced at the Arvada Chamber of Commerce located on 7305 Grandview Avenue. Tickets can also be purchased at the door. The luau will also feature a cash bar and silent auction with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the Arvada Community Food Bank.
